Continuing Professional Education (CPE) is hosted once a month in three regions; Johannesburg at Discovery Health; Pretoria at Medihelp and Cape Town at Medscheme. These are morning meetings lasting for an hour and a half. All members are invited to each CPE.
The topics range from a clinical content to issues relating to regulation and “hot” topics. The emphasis is on an academic forum where there is no marketing agenda. Interactive discussion is encouraged.
The venue and details of these events can be viewed by clicking on our Calendar from the navigation buttons above.
Certificates of attendance are awarded annually to those who attend the CPEs.
Our members are encouraged to develop and build up their own portfolio of learning. Instead of the necessity to gain Continued Professional Development points, notes from lectures/presentations attended should be kept for reference purposes. We encourage members to attend the CPE programme, and contribute as much as they can.
Evidence Based Medicine and Health Economic Workshops are facilitated annually in collaboration with the University of Pretoria and the HE Unit University of Cape Town. Certificates of attendance / competence are awarded appropriately.
Lectures to Fourth year Pharmacy Students are given annually by selected PCMA members. The emphasis is to bring an awareness of the practical application of health economics to decision making.
