It is not always understood by the patient that the complex paperwork, monitoring and process of drug utlisation review of chronic medication dispensing are there to protect his / her best interests and to optimise successful outcomes. Nor is it always known what procedures are followed between funders, providers and managed care organisations.
The PCMA has set out to render more transparent such procedures and to continue to educate individuals, and involved healthcare professionals thereby building confidence in Pharmaceutical Care Management structures.
The PCMA is a Section 21 Company without share capital and provides an association for individual healthcare pharmacists and other healthcare professionals. There are two types of membership:
- Individual Members
- Corporate Members
The right to vote and serve on the Executive Committee is reserved for healthcare pharmacists and other professionals. Corporate Members are encouraged to attend at least four Executive Committee meetings during the year.
